Day 37 – April 16 –
Along the Pacific Coast South of San Francisco
We departed Morro Bay between 10 and 10:30 and continued our
drive north towards our next campground. Just before we left the campground I took these pictures through the windshield from our camp site.

The PCH past San Simeon is a beautiful drive, even in a
37-foot motorhome.
We drove through this, I don't know if it is so the water would flow over the road or to protect the road from rocks |
We only had around 160 miles to go today and figured we
would make the campground easily by 5:00 p.m.
We stopped several times to view the ocean – we just could not seem to
get enough of the views. I hope the
pictures give you an idea of the beauty of the area. Remember you can enlarge the photos by
clicking on them.
More seals on the beach |
We think these photos are a sea otter with a baby on its stomach. The baby appears to be a darker color |
The same mom otter |
The wild flowers are blooming along the roads and fields. Dorrie tried to get some photos as we drove plus a couple when we stopped.
We stopped to view the Sur Point Lighthouse from highway 1.
Our next stop was Point Pinos Lighthouse.
We then fought traffic to our campground (Pinto Lake Park) –
arriving around 5:30. It was a long day
and this campground is not dog friendly, so we will be getting out of here
tomorrow for the Yosemite area.
If you camp in California be sure you do not stay at Pinto
Lake Park. They say they have a strict
dog policy – have to clean up after (which we always do), cannot be outside unless
you are outside also, cannot leave the dog in camper if you are gone from
campground. Within five minutes of
getting to our campsite, Dorrie stepped in dog poop from someone’s dog. The grass is too long to see it and she
walked into the camper and got it on three rugs before she noticed it. She was going to go to the laundry to wash
the rugs, but it and the showers close at 5:00 p.m. The cable does not work and the WiFi is a
joke.
This might be the worst campground we have been in during
our 35 days on the road. And the sad
part is, when we called,
the lady on the phone said it was one of the best
around.
