Day 55 – May 4 – Old Town
Eureka, CA
It was raining this morning and we just took it easy until
near noon. We had to do some grocery
shopping – it seems like we do that a lot, but when you have limited space to
store things you only get what you need, when you need it.

First we located the local Costco store, they have the
cheapest price on gas in this area – it is really hard to get use to paying
$4.20 or more for gas. We picked up a couple
of items in the Costco since we were in the lot.
I forgot my rain jacket, so we went by a Sports Authority store first so I could get a rain jacket – Rick ended up getting one also. Then to the grocery store for supplies – one of
the things we found in the southern part of the state is stores do not provide
bags for groceries. When we were in
Morro Bay the tourist shops did not have bags – they said it was a bag free
area. At any rate, Dorrie asked a woman
on the parking lot if this store had bags or if we need to bring our own (we
learned to keep bags in the back of the Jeep).
The woman said they have bags so we left our bags in the car and did our
shopping.
We returned to the campers and put things away. After a little while we decided to try to
find old town Eureka. The photos we had
seen showed an area of colorful Victorian type building. We managed to find the old town section and
did a little sightseeing.
