Day 65 – May 14 –
Moving to Florence
We had to leave Port Orford and head up the coast. We all really liked the RV park we stayed at
in Port Orford – in the mornings two or three deer would come into the park to
eat. It was just a nice, peaceful place
to stay.
We tried to see the Cape Arago Light near Charleston, but it
is located on a private, dead-end road and the trees blocked any view you might
get from the road. We drove past the
lighthouse to a small state park with a nice sandy beach. We spent a little time walking on the sand
and then moved on.
We turned off 101 at Umpqua River Lighthouse State Park and
took some pictures of the lighthouse.
The Coast Guard was repairing the jetty where the river and ocean met
and we watched the helicopter ferry something from shore to the jetty in a
bucket hanging from a cable under the helicopter.

We then moved on to Lakeshore RV Park – 4 miles south of
Florence, Oregon. We are here for two
nights.
During the evening we drove to Florence and ate at Mo’s on
the Siuslaw River. The food was good –
Dorrie and I had the beer battered Halibut and chips. For $12.95 you got soup or salad, fish,
fries, and homemade bread. We all
enjoyed the food.
