Day 7 - Amarillo, TX

Day 7 got off to a bad start, the temperature dropped during the night and our water hose froze so I had to use water from the tank to brush my teeth.  I went out to change the hose and found the campground water supply to the camper was frozen.  So I hooked up the new hose to the site next to ours and we were back in business.  Dorrie was able to take her shower.  We planned to fix breakfast at 10 o’clock for the four of us.  We made bacon, egg, and cheese biscuits and then started to pack up for the next leg of the trip.  Rick had an issue with his rear jacks not wanting to come all the way to the up position so he had to pry them up and we were off.

At Shamrock, Texas we decided it would be fun to have a green beer for St. Patty’s Day.  We got off the interstate and tried to find a bar for our beer.  Rick asked a local woman and she said nothing would open until 3:30, another two hours, so we continued on our way without getting our green beer L.

Welcome sign for the town

We stopped at a rest area for a break.  Here a few pictures from that stop.

At one point the right lane was closed for repaving and we were all forced into the left lane.  There was a little black car that appeared to be checking out the size of the tires on the back of our motorhome.  He was so close to our rear that I could see him in the rear view camera.  I told Dorrie I wished I had a remote release on the black holding tank, then maybe he would back off some.

We got to Amarillo about 3:30 and stopped at Cracker Barrel for supper.  It was then on to our next Wal-Mart stay.  It is nice they allow us to stop for the night on their lots.  We always ask to make sure it is okay with the local store.

  1. Wow! already lots of adventures. Did you bring the movie with Robin Williams and the black water? Were you trying to recreate it?
We're at Lost Valley Monday - Thursday We were supposed to come on Sunday but the night time temp dropped to 19, so we waited a day.
It is really empty here, except for "Daryl our neighbor. Lord help us if he has a brother! Trying to carry in groceries while Darryl wore Tom's ear off was entertaining. Take care!
