Day 8 – Albuquerque, New Mexico

We realized we were very close the famous Cadillac Ranch when we were in Amarillo, so we did the logical thing – we looked up the location on the internet.  What would we do without the internet?  Turns out Cadillac Ranch was on our way so we took the mile marker 60 exit from I-40 and it was right on the outer road, which happened to be old route 66.

There were a couple of vans of kids parked outside the fence when we pulled up, but they walked out as we walked toward the structure.  The ground around the cars has all kinds of spray cans of paint, most with paint in them.  Below are some photos on the cars (you can click on the pictures to make them larger).  You can see how thick the paint is on the cars; some tires and wheels have drips from all the paint.

We where there!

We drove into a head wind all day, along with climbing in altitude, so the motor rarely got to shift into overdrive – which means our gas mileage is going to suck.

We stopped at a roadside business named Circle C Ranch for a break and to look around at some of their products.  Most were disappointing because they were made in China.  Dorrie got a sombrero for the dogs – photos below.

We drove about 275 miles today, but we gained an hour in time as we moved to Mountain Daylight time zone.  We are currently in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the night.

Red Duck here – I just want to say I am getting fed up this B.S.  They go off having fun and I stay in this stinking camper.  That is going to change!  The dogs got to go see Cadillac Ranch for crying out loud.  Next stop, I am getting out of here, or I am headed home.
