Day 60 – May 9 –
Stewart State Park
It rained off and on last night; the same thing during the
day. The sun would be shining one minute
and the next it was dark and raining.
There were times when the sun was shining and it was raining. The temperature stayed in the 50’s all day,
so all in all it was a very lazy day.
After lunch we drove to Prospect to find the post office so
Dorrie could mail some cards and buy more stamps. On the way to Prospect, Rick turned on a
different access road than we had taken yesterday when we stopped for gas
before going into the national park. This
road suddenly crossed a small bridge and we were all shocked at the water
flowing under the bridge, so we stopped for some photos.

After the post office we stopped at the
general store/gas station in Prospect for an onion for the next evening’s meal –
that was it for our second full day here in Stewart State Park.
Our campsite |
We had noticed yesterday that there were a lot of reserved
signs posted on the camping sites here in the park. During the afternoon the campers started
rolling in and this loop of the campground is almost full. I had heard the Oregon state parks were some
of the best in the country and if all of the other parks are as nice as this
park then I would have to agree with that statement. The sites are paved and have electric and
water. There is a large space between
each of the campsites so you feel like you have room to move about without
hitting your neighbor’s camper. Behind
our camper is a paved bike trail and just beyond that is a large lake.
Tomorrow will much like today – waiting for a change in the
weather on Sunday for a look at Crater Lake.
