Day 128 – July 16 – Whitehorse Revisited

We made Whitehorse about 11 o’clock, got our last stamp for the gold drawing we had been working on – we now have 20 stamps.  That puts us in the drawing for 5 ounces of gold.

As we were pulling into the main part of town, Rick spotted a tire dealer and stopped to see if they had a tire to fit his camper.  We continued on to the visitor’s center to ask about a RV supply place.  I pulled into the wrong side of the parking lot, had to back up down the aisle to get out and parked in the RV lot.  We started back towards were Rick was to see if he needed one of the spare tires we have on the back of our camper.  He called on the CB that he was getting a new tire mounted at a good price and he had used the car to find a replacement lock for us.

We went to the RV dealer and compared the new lock with the old one; decided it would work and paid for it while Rick started installing it.  He had shown up as we were walking into the parts store.  I came out and finished up the install while he circled back to see about his tire.  We decided to meet at the Wal-Mart lot.

After a little tour of the industrial park in Whitehorse we pulled onto the Wal-Mart lot just as Rick was doing the same.  We parted the campers and used the car to get lunch.  It was about 1:30 at this time.  So we had yesterday’s problems fixed fairly fast.

Returning to the campers after a trip to the visitor’s center to turn in our gold drawing entries, we departed Whitehorse for the last time.  We are now in Squanga Lake Yukon Government Campground.  Another night of dry camping.  The government campgrounds in the Yukon are really nice, just no electric, water or sewer hookups.  We can camp like this for 3 to 4 days and then we need to dump the holding tanks and get more fresh water.
