Day 137 – July 25 –
Fort Macleod
We slept in this morning – it was after 8 when I got
up. Maybe it was the time change to
Mountain Time, or the stress from yesterday.
I don’t know, but it was cold inside and outside. The temperature inside was 49 and it was 2
degrees cooler outside. I turned on the
generator for the electric heater and the furnace to take the chill off.
We had decided to wait until today to determine where to go
today – back to Lake Louise or continue towards the lower 48. The clouds were not looking good for photos
of reflecting mountains in Lake Louise, so we drove towards the border. We stopped a couple of times to take
pictures.
One interesting feature of the highway we were driving was
the animal overpasses. There was a high fence on both sides of the highway to
attempt to keep the animals and cars from mixing. The overpasses had trees and grass and the
fence opened up so the animals could cross safely.
We got our last tank of Canadian gas in a very nice clean
town (Okotoks). It looked like the whole
town was newly built.
We are currently in Fort Macleod at the Daisy Mae campground
– once again in overflow camping area.
This is a private campground, but it was full for the night. So for a little over 20 bucks we are drying
camping in a field.
