Day 134 – July 22 –
Headed to Prince George
We filled up with gas before we left Smithers and then hit the
highway to continue our east by southeast journey. The day was pretty boring – we saw a cow
moose and calf but didn’t get a picture.
The landscape was more farming with more small towns along the way. In Houston we passed the World’s Largest Fly
Fishing Rod. That was the highlights of
the day.
We played some music from the iPod and it got me thinking,
so you may want to skip the following that I call, “As Stan Sees It”.
One of the songs was a George Straight tune, “I saw God
today”. I think we have seen God a lot
on this trip. His fingertips were at
play in Arizona, Utah, California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Yukon
Territories, and Alaska (and other places that I forget now) that we saw. Dorrie and I were talking about how excited
we were when we saw our first snow capped mountain in Arizona. After seeing similar sights for over a month
in Alaska we almost think it is normal.
Another tune was sung by Louie Armstrong, “What a Wonderful World” – all
I can say is, it sure is!
We have traveled over 11,000 miles so far and still have lots to see. We are truly blessed to have had
this opportunity to see what God has made, and man has preserved. I hear there are wild fires in parts of
Washington and southern British Columbia.
That breaks my heart! The forests
have provided us with so many memories on this trip. Today when we were driving, we started to see
farmland and Dorrie said it made her sad that we were not traveling through the
forest.
We are currently at our favorite overnight host, Wal-Mart in
Prince George, British Columbia. When we
pulled in we noticed a sign that indicated no overnight RV parking. We asked at the Service Desk, as we always
do, and we were told to just move to an area where there were not signs. We did.
Currently there are at least 12 campers in this area. We are such trendsetters!
