Day 100 – June 18 (Alaska
Day 9)– Denali National Park
Before we left the Denali RV Park and Motel I had to include
a picture of the motorcycle across the street from us.
It is a BMW bike with a sidecar, very pretty. The thing is, the owner is by himself, no other person in the rig. He said the sidecar is for his dog. I’m not sure what breed – looks like it might be part lab. The dog is big, black, and rides in style. The guy said the dog gets to stay dry while he gets rained on!

We got to Denali around 10:30, went to the visitor’s center
and then drove to where we thought we had to check in for the campground. After driving 15 miles into the park (as far
as you can go without a permit) and seeing 3 or 4 moose we had to turn around and backtrack to the park entrance to check in.
Rick had to drop the car at the visitor’s center because you
cannot drive around in the park after the 15-mile point. Our campground is at the 29-mile point and
you have to park the camper and not move it again until you are ready to leave.
The road is paved for the first 15 miles and then is
dirt/gravel the rest of the way. To go
deeper into the park you use the green buses that travel the roads. You can get off at any place along the road
and then wave down a bus to get back on.
It had rained a little last night and we have had light
showers most of the day. It is around 50
degrees and feels colder. We are hoping
for better weather tomorrow.
Again - thanks for the postings! I've been at Scout camp and just caught up. Keep having fun!!!
