Day 19 – Last Day in
Moab
Last night just before 7 o’clock we when back to Dead Horse
Point State Park to take pictures as the sun set behind the bluffs. Here are a couple of the photos.
We spent the day in preparation for our departure from
Moab. I did a load of laundry. After returning to the camper, I got on the
web to see if we could find a place to stay on Sunday night as well as Monday
night. I tried a couple of state parks
for Sunday night, but they were all booked up.
We decided to try our luck in finding an open site in Capital Reef
National Park – they do not take reservations. It is a first come, first served system. We hoped by getting there in the early
afternoon we might find two sites. The
campground doesn’t have any hook-ups, but that is okay with us.
Next I looked for a campground near Zion National Park, hoping
for something between Zion and Bryce Canyon National Park. The Passport America parks in that area did
not open until May 1st, so they were out. I finally found a state park, so we made
reservations online since the phone number only operated Monday thru
Friday. We were set for the next two
days – if we get into Capital Reef.
We drove into Moab to hit some of the tourist shops – but
really didn’t find anything, so after stopping at a hardware store to get an
electric heater and light bulbs for the camper, we returned home.
Rick and I started looking for a place to stay in Las
Vegas. I had found one in the downtown
area that got good reviews, so we called to make reservations. We now have reservations starting on
Wednesday (April 2nd) and departing on Sunday, April 6th.
During the night the wind stated howling again – just in
time for us to travel.
