Day 31 – April 10 –
Old Town San Diego
When we were taking the sunset pictures yesterday, we talked
to a couple from New Mexico and they told us of two places we should try to
have a meal at while in San Diego. One
was a Mexican restaurant in the Old Town section. The other place was a good place to get fish
and chips on the water.
We loaded up and headed toward Old Town for some
sightseeing. Rick had researched the
maps to find where we wanted to go. The
maps just do not clearly detail that section of the city.
He found the Old Town section without any major issues and
we found a parking space on the street.
Across the street from where we parked was an old church.
We walked around Old Town looking at the historical buildings and Dorrie did some shopping.
Later we drove to the harbor area and stopped to look at the USS Midway. I am sure it is small by today’s aircraft carrier standards, but it looked big to me. In the area of the Midway we saw several memorials that were interesting – including one to the service of Bob Hope to the armed services.
We went to Anthony’s Fishette for fish and chips – the food
was really good. Returning home, Rick
and I went to a local RV dealer to get some hose and clamps to fix a water leak
we had under the kitchen sink.
I wasn’t feeling good – headache and stomach issues from the
fried fish, so the others went to find an ocean beach.
Dorrie said the sunset on the beach was a non-event because
the sun went behind a dark cloud and that was the end of the sunset.
