Day 24 – April 3 – Hoover Dam

We headed out in the mid-morning toward Boulder City and Hoover Dam.  There is a new highway bridge, which we drove first, but you could not see over the sides – I think by design.  We went to the first exit and returned to the dam area.  After clearing the security check we drove to the Arizona side for some photos and then back across the dam to the main parking area.

Coins just over the wall - we guessed from people trying to throw into the water

Rick and Mary went on the tour while Dorrie and I walked both sides of the dam and took some more photos (we had taken the tour previously).  Because the dam is on the state line of Nevada and Arizona we figured we have been to Arizona about 5 times on this trip.

We were at the dam in February of 2007 and the construction had just begun.

The bridge is quite a sight and after our visit at the dam, we stopped at the parking area on the road leading to the dam.  They have set up a walkway up the hill so you can walk out on the dam site of the bridge for a view from that angle.  Rick and I walked up the steps and out on the bridge for more pictures.  Here are a couple of the photos.

We drove back to the strip and had a late lunch/early dinner at Bubba Gump’s.  We have eaten at several Bubba Gump restaurants across the country – from Hawaii to South Carolina and have always enjoyed our meals.

After eating Rick and Mary walked to the M&M store to take a picture to send to their oldest granddaughter.  Dorrie and I walked the other way on the strip to the Sephora shop and then back down to meet up with Rick and Mary.

We headed home to let the dogs out and give them some loving and food.

Dorrie and I walked over to the Main Street Casino for a little slot play (gave back last nights winnings) and to extend our stay here until next Tuesday.
