Day 36 – April 15 – Last Day in Morro Bay

This is our last night in Morro Bay and we used the day to go to the grocery store because we are going to move up the coast about 150 miles tomorrow and then head across the state to Yosemite National Park until Easter.  We are not sure of what we can expect in way of finding supplies in the Yosemite area so we made sure we had food to cover all the days we will be off the coast.

We learned our lesson on making sure we know where we are going to be staying before we move on from our current location.  So we have campground reservations until April 28th.

After putting the groceries away we went to a nearby winery for some wine tasting.  Dorrie had a map of the local wineries and we took a back road to the Rocky Creek winery.  There was a warning at the start of the road that stated RVs and cars with trailers should avoid the road.  It wasn’t long before we discovered why the sign was posted.  The road ran up and down the hills, twisting and turning, as the road got narrower.  We finally came to the winery.  We paid our $5 each for three of us to taste – Mary only likes sweet wines and didn’t taste this time.

The guy who ran the winery was a real character and gave us a hard time about Missouri wines.  He only produced 5 red wines, no white wines.  He said people asked him if he wouldn’t like a refreshing white wine in the summer and he said that was why there was beer, and he made his own beer.

His wine was okay, nothing outstanding and after our tasting we left empty handed – except for the wine glass Dorrie bought.
